My GeForce 8800 GT graphics card is out of action.
Yes, besides the busy Christmas season, my less-than-year-old Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT graphics card just blew on an overheat condition, according to my trusty local Staples tech guy. I'm in the process of submitting my Return Merchandize Authorization.
Before I submitted my PC to Staples, I tried to figure out what was wrong and came across the gizmodo story about the controversy between the Inquirer and Nvidia over how extensive its GeForce problems are.
I was hoping I would not become a member of Nvidia's Army of the Nightmare, but it now looks like I'm going in with the first wave.
But then again, maybe not. Could be just a stupid coincidence.
But now I'm curious about how many GeForce failures have occurred now that a year has nearly gone by.
In the mean time, its a little Fighting Steel, a dash of Tiberian Sun Firestorm, and good helping of Chaos Gate on my old Pavilion. But it doesn't feel quite as Christmasy as Dawn of War II.

Under the weather.
I am literally subject to being "under the weather." Whenever a topical system blows up the East Coast of the USA, the rain, drizzle, and sense of pressure drive me into a slough of despond, an enervating ennui. I lose all reason for living. Such a week has just past. There have been too many of them this year.
Fortunately, once it passes I get a renewed vigor and all is right with the world again. I'll be posting soon.

Cliffhanger.
Sorry for the unintentional cliff-hanger with my last post. I am suffering another reality intrusion. I will be posting in a few days. Watch this spot!

Hey, where's the beef?
By now you are asking (if any of you are still around), "Where's the beef?" I haven't blogged in weeks.
Well, some of its been a real estate closing I had to get ready for. But you can largely blame Empire Total War. It's that good (and bad). Its highly addictive. But also more than a little broken. And its got a lot of factions to play. Prussia. Great Britain. France. Spain, Portugal, the Italian State, Austrian, etc etc etc. The patches have been dribbling out since the release in April, and they seem to come out after I've finished playing all of the major factions. Each patch is a significant improvement on play, so I ended up playing all all the factions again. This is insanity. Now another patch is coming up and I swear I won't play it again until they are done patching the The Creature That Eat All My Time. I really wanted this blog to be timely and therefore useful. But its really hard for me to overcome my personality quirks. Keep in touch. There's more to come.
